Administrative Assistant, Union for Reform Judaism, New York City

The Commission on Social Action (CSA) of Reform Judaism is seeking an administrative assistant to join the department team. The CSA facilitates the development of public policy for the Reform Movement and functions as the Social Action Department of the Union for Reform Judaism in New York. It also works cooperatively with the Reform Movement’s Religious Action Center in Washington, DC. The applicant must have good organizational skills and be attentive to detail. Qualifications include good communication skills, strong knowledge of (or ability to learn) Outlook, Excel and Access; ability to collaborate with others and willing to pitch when necessary. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Facilitating communications, including telephone, email, correspondence and mailings;
  • Maintaining inventory of office supplies;
  • Maintaining department files;
  • Managing Commission on Social Action database;
  • Providing direct support to director;
  • Providing additional support to other department staff as needed;
  • Updating website as necessary (knowledge of html helpful, but not necessary);
  • Facilitating cooperative work between the Commission on Social Action and the Religious Action Center in Washington, DC.
