The JVibe team has a fun, relaxed outlook on life but a strong work ethic.

Our office is a casual, entrepreneurial environment and a community in which no job is too small and no responsibility too large. We’re looking for someone who “gets” teens and wants to help unite Judaism with mainstream teen life.

Work experience should include:

  • Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field
  • 1-2 years experience with print or web publishing
  • Experience proofreading a print publication

Candidate must also possess:

  • Ability to multi-task a variety of projects
  • Strong editorial and writing skills
  • Excellent team skills
  • Ability to work in a deadline oriented environment
  • Strong desire to work with the teen audience
  • Creative thinking—someone who can propel JVibe and help it to grow in new ways

Not required but encouraged:

  • Experience creating/updating websites, particularly through a CMS (content-management system)
  • Previous work experience with Jewish organizations
  • Previous work experience with teens
  • Knowledge of Jewish values

The responsibilities of the associate editor will include:

  • Working closely with JVibe’s editor and design team
  • Managing our website (JVibe.com): (producing story topics, working directly with writers, editing and proofing articles, uploading content to website)
  • Thorough editing, proofreading, and fact-checking of all content for print magazine
  • Managing the JVibe Teen Advisory Board of over 35 teens from across the country
  • Brainstorm new print story ideas/values with JVibe team and research stories
  • Write for print and web

Interested candidates who meet these qualifications should send their resume and a short writing sample to editor@jvibe.com, fax 617.965.7772, or mail to JVibe, 90 Oak St., Box 9129, Newton, MA 02464, att: Lindsey Silken. No phone calls, please.
