Organization Overview

American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is an international development organization motivated by Judaism’s imperative to pursue justice. Position Overview

American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is seeking an energetic, motivated and detail-oriented individual with an interest in technology, Web and online communications to support the growing online component of our work. The Communications Associate will be an integral member of the communications team and will serve as the primary webmaster for the organization.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of the Communications Associate/Webmaster will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage AWJS Web site(s) within a Content Management System, including file structure, user permissions, CSS, JavaScript, HTML Templates/Wrappers
  • Forms using APIs
  • Implement Web site layouts as well as buttons, banners, and email headers
  • Work with/manage relationships with vendors and consultants
  • Respond to online inquiries and troubleshoot issues
  • Produce periodic reports on Web metrics
  • Manage a variety of other department projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in an online or technology field, with a strong interest in communications
  • Extensive experience building and managing Web sites using CMS systems
  • Understanding of CRMs, Blogs, RSS, XML, and other Web technologies
  • Fluent in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Some experience/working knowledge of JSP, PHP or other scripting languages
  • Understanding of related content
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Able to manage multiple complex tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as within a team environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including MS Excel and MS Access
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
