B’shalach

When the Wood Meets the Water

By RABBI SHMUEL SIMENOWITZ

The energy and tools needed for change are within our reach. We just need the will to utilize them, and deep understanding of that which Hashem has taught us- “Vayorehu Hashem etz.” If we take the lesson of the bitter waters of Marah to heart we can turn around our horses currently galloping out of control towards oblivion.

Acts of Justice, Shouts of Joy

By RABBI ELLIOT ROSE KUKLA

As we recount the inspiring story of Moses and the crossing of the Sea of Reeds, we should realize that the horizons of our world are broader than we think: oceans can crack open, diseases can be eradicated and the balance of world wealth can be shifted. We can take action through advocacy, service, and education. Changes that would transform the quality of life in the world's poorest countries are not only necessary, but possible.

By RABBI MARC ISRAEL
