Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Information on B’nai/B’not Mitzvah is brought to you by:

The Ziv Tzedakah Fund

The Ziv Tzedakah Fund, founded and chaired by Danny Siegel, is about Mitzvahs—Fixing Up the World with whatever talents and resources we have as individuals. The Fund’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah section provides answers to the question, “How can we add that special ingredient of tikkun olam or fixing the world to our upcoming simcha so that many more people can benefit from our happiness and joy?”

Areyvut

Areyvut’s Bnai Mitzvah Resource Center reaches out to students, parents, and educators to help incorporate social action into bar/bat mitzvah celebrations. The Areyvut Bnai Mitzvah database includes a list of volunteer organizations that bar and bat mitzvah students can use when looking for the appropriate social action project for their celebration.

Areyvut's 2006 Bnai Mitzvah Essay Contest

Students are invited to share their Bnai Mitzvah tzedakah project experiences with the entire Jewish community by participating in Areyvut's Bnai Mitzvah Essay Contest. We will recognize Bnai Mitzvah students who have made unique contributions to their communities. Students can win exciting prizes, and we will post all winning essays on our website to serve as models for those students who are just beginning to plan their Bnai Mitzvah service projects. You can read the 2006 winning essays, 2005 winning essays, and 2004 winning essays.

"Make a Difference" Day Expo, sponsored by Areyvut

"Make a Difference" Day, on March 23, 2007, we invite schools, synagogues, families and community organizations to dedicate their day to helping others. Areyvut's "A Kindness a Day Calendar: 365 Ways to Make a Difference," which offers 365 suggestions of how to incorporate tikkun olam into everyday life, is already uniting Jewish communities across the country in an effort to inspire acts of kindness. On "Make a Difference" Day, this effort will be strengthened; thousands of students and families will turn the calendar's suggestions into action with the help of educational resources that Areyvut will provide.

Temple Beth Elohim

Temple Beth Elohim of Wellesley, Massachusetts, has program guides (Grade 6, Grade 7) as part of its B’nai Mitzvah Magical Mystery Tour.
